Chapter of childhood.


A BOOK about a young boy growing up in 1940s Warwickshire has hit the bookshops, thanks to the help of council staff.

County man Alan Sheasby captures the spirit of the era through the eyes of a youngster in a new edition of his novel Skylark skylark, common name for a passerine songbird (Alauda arvensis) famous for the soaring, melodious flight of the courting male. Found in Europe (except in the Mediterranean area), it is 7 1-4 in. (18.  Fields.

The book has been released by Warwickshire County Council and is now available in local bookshops.

Noel Hunter, director of libraries, heritage and trading standards at the county council, said: This is a charming and nostalgic account of a happy childhood that would strike a chord with anyone who grew up in the forties and offer an amusing insight to anyone who didnt.
