Following is Joe's offering in his series honoring the Chapters. Mid-Atlantic Chapter is our youngest Chapter, and it was organized during its first meeting on November 1, 1997. The Chapter received its Charter at the 1997 Chicago Annual Conference, and it was designated to serve the States of Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States). , as well as the counties of Chester, Lancaster, Adams, Franklin, Cumberland, York, Perry, and Dauphin in Pennsylvania; the counties of Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, Hampshire, and Hardy in West Virginia; the counties of Loudin, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Stafford, King George, Spotsylvania, Caroline, Westmoreland, Northumberland, Richmond, Goochland, Gloucester, Essex, Lancaster, Middlesex, King & Queen, King William, Hanover, New Kent, Louisa, Orange, Green, Madison, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, Frederick, Clark, Warren, and Culpeper in Virginia. Through the years, the Chapter has been active in the society activities as well as serving the Photographic Community. Presently, the official staff consists of Chairman Lois M.
