Chaparral Resources, Inc. Announces Spud of Karakuduk No. 101 Well.HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 1999--Chaparral Resources, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHAR) announced today that Karakuduk Munay, J.V. The well is located in the Karakuduk Field in the Republic of Kazakhstan, about 20 kilometers from the Caspian Sea Caspian Sea (kăs`pēən), Lat. The Karakuduk No. 101 well is expected to require four to six weeks to drill. A workover rig will perform completion and testing once the drilling rig is moved to the next drilling location, the Karakuduk No. 102 well. The Company announced previously that KKM will re-perforate wells No. 20 and No. 21 in order to enhance production. KKM is pursuing discussions for sale of its approximately 17,000 tons (126,000 barrels) of crude oil. Further details will be announced once a sale transaction is completed.
