Chaos on bridge road.MAJOR tailbacks built up on the main route between Wales and England today as police tried to recover a horse from an overturned trailer. The Second Severn Crossing The Second Severn Crossing (Welsh: Ail Groesfan Hafren) is a motorway crossing over the River Severn between England and Wales, inaugurated on 5 June 1996 by Charles, Prince of Wales to augment the traffic capacity of the original Severn Bridge crossing built in 1966. bridge was closed in both directions for two hours. Traffic on the M4 was diverted over the original Severn Crossing bridge while the recovery operation was under way. The incident happened when a Land Rover pulling a horsebox overturned on the eastbound carriageway carriageway Noun 1. Brit the part of a road along which traffic passes in one direction: the westbound carriageway of the M4 2. of the bridge at around 9.30am. Police and a vet managed to rescue the horse, which was uninjured in the incident. No other vehicle was involved and the occupants of the Land Rover were not hurt. |
