A man, believed to be the lorry driver, was treated for smoke inhalation following the blaze, which badly damaged the vehicle and gutted the cab. The incident happened shortly before 4am and one lane of the westbound carriageway was closed by police. It was several hours before the road could be fully reopened, which hit many motorists' journeys to work. The HGV caught fire and stopped near the Holywell turn-off. The haulier's company is not known. The vehicle was taken away on a trailer at about 8.30am, but road maintenance crews were at the scene for several hours clearing up debris. The inside lane remained closed until 1pm. A Wales Ambulance Service NHS Trust spokesman said paramedics were also called to the scene. He confirmed one man was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd suffering from smoke inhalation, but his condition is not known. A North Wales fire and rescue service The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (Welsh: Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru) is the fire and rescue service covering the predominantly rural principal areas of Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham in spokeswoman said a report of the fire was received at 3.51am. Later a car broke down on the A55 at Pentre Halkyn, causing further delays for drivers. A North Wales Police North Wales Police (Welsh: Heddlu Gogledd Cymru) is the Home Office police force responsible for policing North Wales. The headquarters are in Colwyn Bay, with divisional headquarters in St Asaph, Caernarfon and Wrexham. spokeswoman said the incident involving a silver coloured car was reported at 9.44am.
