METAspectrum Evaluation of Channel Relationship Management Market

Released Today

META Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: METG METG Military Effects Test Group ) today announced the availability of its newest METAspectrum(SM) evaluation for the channel relationship management (ChRM) market. The ChRM market comprises vendors whose technology enables business-to-business (B2B (Business to Business) Refers to one business communicating with or selling to another. ChRM solutions provide organizations with the ability to manage complex indirect channel partner relationships, product catalogs, and multiple partner Web storefronts, as well as direct consumer e-selling.

ChRM will enable organizations to improve their product/service visibility and increase transaction volumes through their network of indirect partners. In addition, ChRM solutions will help organizations gain a better picture of partner/customer buying habits and requirements, enabling stronger relationships.

Key Findings and Guidance

The channel relationship management (ChRM) market is growing at a compound annual rate of 15%-20% and will exceed $550 million by 2005/06. META Group expects the market to consolidate from 18 vendors to fewer than 12 within three years. This METAspectrum evaluation examined 17 vendors and found the following:

-- Technology is the most heavily weighted factor because users

are focused on providing new and innovative functionality to

their indirect channel partners (e.g., partner, marketing,

service, product).

-- Organizations will seek solutions that possess strong

technological capabilities at a fair price to enable partners

with innovative sell-side/relationship management

capabilities.

-- Users will be drawn to vendors that are known in the market

for providing ChRM solutions and that have developed a

reputation for quality delivery.

-- Leaders in the ChRM market have strong performance positions,

with high scores in the technology, services, and pricing

criteria areas. They also have strong presence positions,

especially in terms of awareness/reputation and share.

-- Challengers in the ChRM market often exhibit a strong focus on

technology, services, and price -- only a few large players

can leverage their brand awareness for other products to

increase their presence rating.
