The 1Voice segment ran as part of a broader special on life and living in today's Cuba. For this, Marquardt spent several days in Cuba in an effort to engage citizens in a dialogue on the critical issue of personal freedom, including freedom of speech and government censorship. Marquardt also elicited debate and candid reaction from Cuban teens living in Miami, including students at Belen Jesuit Preparatory.

"In fact, nearly all of what they shared on the issue of freedom of speech and freedom of expression was done when the cameras weren't rolling, for fear of being caught. In contrast, Cuban-American teens living in Miami didn't hesitate to lend frank opinion and had an awful lot to say."
