Changes in Kaiser Permanente's Child Health Plan and State's Healthy Families Program Lead to Health Care Victory for California's Children.


PASADENA, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Nov. 30, 1999--

In a move that will make health care coverage available to a greater number of California's uninsured children, Kaiser Permanente Kaiser Permanente is an integrated managed care organization, based in Oakland, California, founded in 1945 by industrialist Henry J. Kaiser and physician Sidney R. Garfield.  has modified income eligibility for its Kaiser Permanente Cares for Kids Child Health Plan.

Previously, this comprehensive, subsidized program was open to eligible children with family incomes between 200 to 275 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), or $33,400 to $45,925 for a family of four. The prdjustment is in response to recent changes in the state's Healthy Families Program, which expanded coverage from 100 to 200 percent FPL to 100 to 250 percent FPL.
