Finally, there is the ongoing challenge of MS treatment at the present state of knowledge. We know the remedies for MS and its symptoms are going to change. Research and development are in high gear. Excitement is in the air. But what is rapid movement for science is painfully slow for people who need better treatments now.

Right now, the disease-modifying drugs are "state-of-the-art." (See page 40.) What we can change now are some of the psychological, financial, and public policy barriers to their use by those who can benefit from them. We'll need to focus on that while medical science pushes ahead toward the new, more effective treatments suitable for every kind of MS.
