Change leaders key to success.

IT IS APPROPRIATE THAT THIS ISSUE of Techniques is focused on leadership. These are interesting times for education and most of all, career and technical education (CTE (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion) The difference between the way two materials expand when heat is applied. This is very critical when chips are mounted to printed circuit boards, because the silicon chip expands at a different rate than the plastic board. ). The ongoing and increasingly louder dialogue on education reform is changing what is taught, how it is taught and where it is taught. During these times, it is important for the CTE profession and ACTE ACTE Association for Career and Technical Education (formerly American Vocational Association)

There are three major attributes required to enhance performance in today's work climate:

1. Flexibility--This is the willingness and capacity to do things differently, to take the risks involved, and to admit to a level of uncertainty. Leaders must remain flexible by focusing on the environment, frequently revisiting progress and trends, expecting surprises, and working backward from clear outcomes to determine what you need to accomplish them.

2. Empathy--This is the ability to put yourself in your members' shoes to really know and feel what each is going through.

3. Trustworthiness--To remain engaged and productive in a changing environment, one marked by increasing anxiety and turmoil, trust in leadership is an absolute essential. Leaders who demonstrate openness and humility Humility

to determine if these attributes are present and what steps can be taken to develop or enhance these attributes.

So my only question to you as an educator and ACTE member: Are you a change leader?
