 in last month's issue. We are pleased to announce that Fern R. Potvin, our vice president of medical education, has taken on the additional role of managing editor. Among other projects, Fern has spearheaded our acclaimed series on Universal Newborn Screening newborn screening Neonatology The analysis of a neonate's blood for metabolic or other disorders to prevent mental retardation, disability or death  and has been a driving force behind the educational program at our annual conference, the World Congress on Disabilities.

Fern takes over responsibilities from Bridget Lyne who will continue as a contributing editor A contributing editor is a magazine job title that varies in responsibilities. Most often, a contributing editor is a freelancer who has proven ability and readership draw.  and also step into a new role as vice president of organization relationships. Under Bridget's tenure, EP received accolades from Easter Seals Easter Seals is an international charitable organization devoted to providing opportunities for children with physical disabilities. Change of Name? Oops!

In the August issue in the Special Feature Section on Direct Support Professionals, we accidentally changed the name of one of our contributing authors. Co-author of "From Acquaintance to Partnership" Mark Olson's name was mispelled. Sorry Mark! We sincerely apologize for the error and any inconvenience it has caused.

And one more ...

One more photo which should have been included in August's What Kids Think About Their DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  Parents. Amos Hewitt-Perry, the son of Amy Hewitt, PhD. and Brad Perry, a DSP at Hammer Residences, Inc. Amos has this to say about dad: "He works with people who have wheelchairs because their legs don't work anymore."
