Chancellor Media Corporation Names Bennett Zier Vice President & General Manager of WGAY-FM D.C.'s Jammin' Oldies - The New 99.5.

), today named Bennett Zier, to the position of Vice President and General Manager of D.C.'s Jammin' Oldies Oldies is a generic term commonly used to describe a radio format that usually concentrates on Top 40 music from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Oldies are typically from R&B, pop and rock music genres.
 - The New 99.5 (WGAY-FM) in Washington, D.C., the nation's seventh largest market when ranked by revenue.

The appointment is effective immediately. Last week, Chancellor Media reformatted the station to the Jammin' Oldies format, a unique adult contemporary sound featuring rhythmic oldies Rhythmic Oldies is a radio format that concentrates on the rhythmic, disco or dance genre of oldies music. Playlists may span the 1970s through the early 1990s. Depending on market conditions and playlist, the format may have a significant African-American or Hispanic composition.  from the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

Mark O'Brien who had served as the Vice President and General Manager of the station, will now devote 100% of his time to WASH-FM also Washington, D.C., continuing as WASH's Vice President and General Manager.

Mr. Zier's appointment as General Manager of The New 99.5, D.C.'s Jammin' Oldies continues a remarkable 20-year career in radio. In addition to D.C.'s Jammin' Oldies, his other responsibilities include; Vice President and General Manager of both WWRC-AM and WTEM-AM `The Team'. Late last year, Mr. Zier returned to the Nation's Capital and to WTEM and WWRC WWRC Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center  after serving as Vice President and General Manager for Chancellor's BIG 105-FM in New York New York, state, United States
