Ronan Keating grew up in Bayside, Dublin. He attended Bayside Primary School and St. Fintan's High School, Sutton, Dublin.
 

BUDDING Huddersfield musicians could be in with a chance of winning a scholarship funded by Ronan Keating.

Ronan, former Boyzone singer and now manager of boy band Westlife, is stumping up cash to fully fund one person to study a Diploma in Modern Music (vocals) course at rock music college Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM BIMM Brighton Institute of Modern Music (UK)
BIMM British Institute of Musculoskeletal Medicine (Watford, Hertfordshire, UK)
BIMM Business Image Management and Multimedia (course) 
).

BIMM was featured in the Examiner recently when Huddersfield student Roger Davis There have been several well-known people named Roger Davis, including:
  • Roger Davis (film actor)
  • Roger Davis (television actor)
  • Roger Davis (cricketer)
  • A character from Rent, Roger Davis -Rent.
  • Roger Davis (Pennsylvania)
, 26, had a track chosen for an album produced by the institute.

Carleen Anderson - soul legend James Brown's god-daughter and singer with the Brand New Heavies - is also offering cash for a second scholarship on the Diploma in Modern Music (vocals) course.

Carleen said: "I am delighted to be able to help a talented musician get a good grounding in their career from the start.

"Being a professional musician can be very tough. It is a world of highs and lows, so having a steady education in the art of the industry is vital."

The courses are full time and cover vocal and songwriting skills. They last for a year.

A third scholarship on the one year BIMM Diploma in Modern Music (songwriting) course is also being offered by record giant RCA See RCA connector and video/TV history. , which has the Foo Fighters, Christina Aguilera and David Gray on its books.

Musicians wishing to apply for any of the scholarships must send in a one track demo tape to be judged by Ronan, Carleen and the college directors.

For vocalists, it should be a cover track. For songwriters, an original piece is required.

All entrants must send a covering letter detailing their musical experience, career aims and objectives.

All items should go to BIMM Scholarship Application, BIMM, 7 Rock Place, Brighton, East Sussex, BN2 1PF.

Final winners will be informed by August 20 and must be ready to start studying in Brighton on September 27.

The successful candidates can look forward to being taught by the stars.
