Club spokesman Richard Baldwin said: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this prestigious race come to a dramatic close."

The winner will have an early start though - the team will set off from Liverpool marina at 2am in the 40ft long MFV Gullmaren.

Joined by other vessels, MFV Gullmaren will leave the marina lock before sunrise for a race starting at 4am from the marina to the BAR.

Providing the weather is good enough the trip to the BAR will take almost three hours.

Gullmaren should reach the BAR lightship lightship, moored vessel bearing lights and other signal devices to guide ships and warn of hazards to navigation. Lightships are generally stationed at points where a lighthouse cannot be erected; they are given distinctive features (e.g.  in time for breakfast at 7am.

The 200-metre finish line will be between Gullmaren and the lightship, so the winner will get a spectacular view of these impressive yachts racing to the finish line at 8am.
