ended their regular season with a 60-33 defeat at Edinburgh last night.

The trip to Armadale was always going to be a tough one, and the Monarchs served notice of their intentions with a 60-30 defeat of Berwick in the first installment of their double header.

Ben Wilson continued his good run of form with a 14-point return but otherwise the NEBT/Simpson Racing UK BEars found the going very tough indeed against the outgoing Premier League champions.

In fact Wilson's two wins - one as a tactical double - were the only ones that Brian Havelock's men had to cheer all night.

Their misery was compounded by two falls for No 1 Ty Proctor - one of them after the race had finished.

The Aussie ace hurt his shoulder although he is expected to be fit for Thursday's visit by Berwick.

The Bears are now gearing up for their Jack Young Shield campaign as they attempt to win back the trophy they won in 2007.

for Gary Havelock. EARLY indications are that the Bears' protest against Glasgow's use of rider replacement against them to cover for the absent Sandi Conda has been successful.

That being the case, the Tigers' 50-43 win would be overturned and the Bears handed three points for an awarded 48-45 victory.

However the decision has yet to be confirmed by the Speedway Control Board.

THE Bears Supporters' Group are holding a social event in the Bruce Forrester Lounge at South Tees Motorsports Park on Saturday, October 10 (6.30pm start).
