Champs Sports leases Times Square space. (Retail New York).


Champs Sports, the specialty athletic footwear, apparel and equipment retailer, a division of New York-based Foot Locker Foot Locker, Inc. (NYSE: FL) is a major American sportswear and footwear retailer, with its headquarters in New York City, and operating in approximately 20 countries worldwide. It is the successor corporation to the F.W. Woolworth Company (“Woolworth’s”). , Inc., has signed a 10,127-SF bi-level lease for a new "power store" at Boston Properties' new 37-story tower, Five Times Square.

The 15-year deal is the first retail lease to be signed at the newly constructed 1.1 million-SF building, dramatically positioned on one of the most visible intersections in Times Square--at the southwest corner of Seventh Avenue and 42nd Street. Champs Sports will contain 5,320 SF of space on the ground and 4,807 SF on the second floor and is expected to open in the Fall 2002.

 acted on Champs' behalf. Insignia/ESG and PBS launched a strategic alliance late last year and this is the second deal the two companies have arranged together in 2002. The first was a 3,200-SF lease for Anne Klein's flagship in SoHo at 417 Broadway.
