ENGLEWOOD, Colo--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2001

Champps Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMPP CMPP Centre Médico-Psycho-Pédagogique ) announced today that its Shanghai Steamer appetizer has received Nation's Restaurant News' 2001 MenuMasters Award for best new menu item.

MenuMasters honors the best in menu development and promotion each year.

The Shanghai Steamer, a combination of shrimp, chicken and pork dumplings, is dubbed dub 1

. Hot and spicy sauces complement the dish adding a special flavor. The Shanghai Steamer was introduced to Champps' extensive menu of freshly prepared food in October 2000 by Chef Andre Halston, Champps' director of culinary.

This dish was created and selected because it allows us to offer the menu diversity we strive to bring to our customers. The secret to the success of the Shanghai Steamer is our special blend Special Blend is a morning radio show airing weekdays from 7 AM to 10 AM on the community-based campus radio station CKCU-FM in Ottawa, Canada. The show is entirely produced by volunteers; each of the 15 weekly programming hours is hosted by a different volunteer, with  of sauces that gives it an innovative flavor and makes it a specialty item on the menu. We are continually creating signature dishes A signature dish is a recipe that identifies an individual chef. Ideally it should be unique and allow an informed gastronome to name the chef in a blind tasting. It can be thought of as the culinary equivalent of an artist finding their own style, or an author finding their own  to add to our extensive menu which offers customers large portions, a great value and a wide variety of items from which to choose," said Halston.

The recipients of the MenuMasters will be honored at a gala awards ceremony in Chicago on Saturday, May 19, 2001. MenuMasters Awards are selected by the editors of Nation's Restaurant News with input from an advisory board comprised of industry peers including the 2000 winners.
