Champions West Kirby off to a flyer; CARLSBERG WEST CHESHIRE.


WEST KIRBY started the defence of their West Cheshire League Division One crown with an invaluable 3-2 win at Maghull, writes Ernie McDonald.

Adam Lea, Danny Grannon and Kevin Dunston netted for the champions while Ryan Liggett and Davie Lynch obliged for the hosts.

Newly promoted Willaston clinched a 2-1 win at Christleton with Chris Kennedy and Dave Forbes David Stephen Forbes (born November 16, 1948 in Montreal, Quebec) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player.

Signed as a free agent in 1973 by the Boston Bruins, Forbes made an impact as a defensive-minded forward as he helped guide the Bruins to the finals in 1974 during his

In Division Three a Paul Cliff double steered Prescot Cables Res to an important 4-2 win at Ashville Res and Mark Baldwin followed suit with two for Ellesmere Port Res in their 4-1 demolition of local rivals Capenhurst Villa Res.

An Alan Bond brace, a Dave Jolley effort and an own goal set Runcorn Town Res up for a 4-0 result over Blacon YC Res. The Youth Division''s match of the day saw South Liverpool emerge 3-2 victors against Cammell Laird via Tony Evans, Sean Wright and an own goal.
