"He brings the ideal blend of skills and talents to our team with his 20 years of experience in industry and academia and his expertise in programmable signal processing architectures and streaming data processing. His enthusiasm and passion for transforming innovative technological solutions into products will help Chameleon to advance its leadership position in reconfigurable streaming data processing solutions."

Before joining Chameleon Systems, Mr. Vissers served as the Director of Architecture at Trimedia Technologies, Inc., where he was responsible for all cores and embedded peripherals. He helped spearhead the company and was instrumental in its transformation from an engineering organization spun out from Philips Semiconductors to a complete company. Mr. Vissers also currently holds a part-time position at UC Berkeley, where he focuses on the mapping of models of computation onto models of multi-processor architectures in the Mescal project.

Prior to working at Trimedia, Mr. Vissers spent 18 years with Philips Research, both in the Netherlands and in the United States, as a senior scientist, project leader and strong technical innovator. His work included the architecture development of a 64-bit VLIW (Very Long Instruction Word) A CPU architecture that reads a group of instructions and executes them at the same time. For example, the group (word) might contain four instructions, and the compiler ensures that those four instructions are not dependent on each  processor, the design and construction of a design space exploration environment (often referred to as the "Y-chart"), the design of a novel motion estimation based deinterlacer embedded coprocessor, research on Hardware Software co-design, the overall responsibility for a second generation complete programmable video signal processing system, and development of all design automation tools of the first generation video signal processor.

"I am delighted to join Chameleon Systems Inc.," said Mr. Vissers. "This gives me an opportunity to combine the knowledge I have gained in data path processor design with a reconfigurable technology. I'm very excited to join this excellent team of talented people and to further enhance the direction of reconfigurable streaming data processing. I am joining Chameleon Systems Inc. at a good time to contribute to the company strategy for the second generation product."

Mr. Vissers has a Master of Science from Delft Delft (dĕlft), city (1994 pop. 91,941), South Holland prov., W Netherlands. It has varied industries and is noted for its ceramics (china, tiles, and pottery) known as delftware. Founded in the 11th cent.  University in the Netherlands.

applications. The Chameleon SDP delivers ASIC-like performance and cost and FPGA-like time to market and flexibility. Its multiple-patented parallel computing fabric and high-level development environment provide breakthrough performance and ease of use for data-intensive DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  applications. Chameleon's complete solution enables DSP designers to rapidly optimize their own system, application and algorithm designs directly onto a fast, parallel implementation suitable for product delivery.
