Chambers invited to Dutch athletics meetControversial British sprinter Dwain Chambers, who recently released a book on his doping past, has been invited to compete at an athletics event in Uden, Holland, organisers announced on Wednesday. "The rules on doping are clear: anyone who has served a punishment can continue competing," meeting organiser Patrick van de Rijdt told the press agency ANP. "I am an opponent of doping but I also think that everyone deserves a second chance," he added. Chambers, 30, was suspended between 2003 and 2005 after testing positive for the banned substance THG supplied by the notorious BALCO laboratory in San Francisco. In his book 'Race Against Me' he charts his transformation from talented young athlete into a self-confessed "walking junkie". Despite being recently crowned European indoor 60m champion in Turin, Chambers has been given the cold shoulder by numerous race organisers. "At Uden, he will have the opportunity to test our new track," one of the event's organisers told Dutch daily De Telegraaf. "We hope he records the best 100m time ever run in Holland." The fastest 100m ever run in the country was a time of 10.08 recorded by American sprinter Leroy Burrell in Hengelo in 1994.
