Chamber recognizes local achievers at 2002 event. (Sault Ste. Marie).


Local enterpreneurs and leaders were feted for their achievements and community contributions during the 2002 Sault Ste. Marie Sault Sainte Marie — pronounced "Soo Saint Marie" (IPA /su seɪnt məˈɹi/) — is the name of two cities on the Saint Marys River, which forms part of the boundary between the United States and Canada.  Chamber of Commerce Awards in late October.

Jack Purvis (December 11, 1906 – March 30, 1962) was an American jazz musician.[1]

Purvis was best known as a trumpet player and the composer of Dismal Dan and Down Georgia Way.

Clergue Forest Management and the City of Sault Ste. Marie - Household Special Waste Depot were both recipients of the Environment Award, the Upper Lakes Environmental Research Network (ULERN ULERN Upper Lakes Environmental Research Network (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada) ) was presented with the Community Capacity Building Award and McDougall Fuels was presented with the Safe Work, Sound Business Award.
