Chamber recognizes local achievers at 2002 event. (Sault Ste. Marie).

Local enterpreneurs and leaders were feted for their achievements and community contributions during the 2002 Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce Awards in late October.

Among 2002 award recipients included: Jack Purvis of Purvis Marine, who received the Paul Dalseg Award for community achievement; Robert Cohen of Traders Metal Ltd, who was presented with the Skipper Manzzutti Award for Business Achievement; and Tom Dodds of Industry Canada FedNor was presented with the Chamber's President's Award. The Volunteer of the Year Award went to George Johnstone of McClelland-Johnstone Ltd. The Athena Award was presented to Carmela Novello of Travel Masters Ltd. and Dan Castllani of Ricardo's Big Slice Pizza, won the Entrepreneur/Business of the Year Award. Algoma Insurance received the Business Development Award, and Upstairs at Rome's captured the Marketing Award, Canada Post Corp., received the Service Sector Award and Lamon's Printing was presented with the Customer Service Award.

Clergue Forest Management and the City of Sault Ste. Marie - Household Special Waste Depot were both recipients of the Environment Award, the Upper Lakes Environmental Research Network (ULERN) was presented with the Community Capacity Building Award and McDougall Fuels was presented with the Safe Work, Sound Business Award.
