The Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce visited NECC as part of a wider European trade mission, to build on the success of the existing partnership between the two organisations.

The federation, headed by vice-chairman Jin Liang, was joined by a number of industry dignitaries and political leaders from Shanghai in an effort to develop new business and civic contacts between the regions.

The meeting was held at NECC's Durham headquarters in partnership with regional development agency One North East in support of their objectives to embed em·bed   also im·bed

NECC chief executive James Ramsbotham led the delegation which welcomed the Shanghai Federation. He said: "We are very happy to welcome the Shanghai Federation back to the North East again. NECC has placed a great deal of emphasis on working with our colleagues across in China. It is very much our aim to build on our existing international business contacts for the benefit of NECC members and the region's business community.

"Throughout the remainder of the year we have many other activities planned that we hope will create further opportunities for North East businesses in China and several other foreign markets."

Shanghai delegation leader Jin Liang felt confident that the partnership between the two regions would be beneficial.
