Challenge to join the ranks of town's foremost firms; Fhyshe harton finny lid stockbrokes and investment managers Fyshe Horton Finney sponsors Business of the Year.

FIRMS are being invited to follow the footsteps of some of the town's most prominent companies by competing in the Examiner Business Awards.

And one of the coveted categories in the 2008 competition is for Business of the Year.

Linthwaite-based pharmaceutical manufacturer Thornton and Ross Ltd won the category last year.

Thornton and Ross Ltd, founded in 1922, is the UK's largest independent pharmaceutical manufacturer.

The company counts some of the country's most familiar household products among its range, including Covonia cough mixture cough mixture njarabe m para la tos

The category is open to firms employing more than 250 people The winner will have demonstrated a track record of business achievement, growing financial performance and evidence of a contribution to local prosperity.

This year, the category is sponsored by FysheHorton Finney Founded in 1896, Fyshe Horton Finney Ltd is a well-established stockbroker and investment manager with offices throughout the UK.

Being the only stockbroker based in Huddersfield, Fyshe is proud to be associated with the Huddersfield Business Awards, an event that encourages and rewards local businesses.

Recently joining the firm as research director is Mike Estrey, who has more than 20 years experience within the industry.
