Challenge in store for us.Byline: By Owen McAteer Security will be tight at a charity run in aid of the Chronicle's charity for children next month with a number of shopping centre guards signing up for the event. The six security guards from the Eldon Square Eldon Square is a shopping centre in Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom. It was officially opened in 1977 by Queen Elizabeth II and is named after the original Eldon Square (now known as Old Eldon Square) which the shopping centre was built around. shopping centre in Newcastle are among hundreds of people expected to take part in the Sunshine Fund Sunshine Run on Wednesday July 6. Two of the guards taking part Will McCue, 25, and Paul Hindle, 26, are hoping retailers from the centre will join them on the run or dig deep into their pockets to sponsor them. Paul said: "None of the entrants to date are particular running enthusiasts and the last time I did any serious running was in the army. "However, a wave of competition is currently rising among the runners, with the last man finished on a forfeit to get the beers in." Will said: "We all intend to get in some last minute training, as nobody wants to be the last man over the line. However, the most important part of the day is to raise funds for such a worthy cause." Last year 700 of you ran in the event and raised a massive pounds 30,000 to make significant improvements to the quality of life of youngsters in our region battling serious illness or living their lives with a disability. The run, now in its fourth year, follows the traditional 5km route along Newcastle Quayside quay·side n.
