Like a real classroom, chalkboard allows multiple authors to publish content and then easily edit that content without any prior training or additional authoring tools - decreasing the cost of training and expenses while increasing the rate of return for the organization.

Under the terms of the agreement, Chalk will deploy SAVVIS' virtualized IT utility services, including managed hosting, computing, storage and security, in an application service provider (ASP) model to deliver the chalkboard(TM) LCMS application to its customers. In addition, SAVVIS and Chalk will develop joint sales initiatives targeting eLearning opportunities that would be powered by the SAVVIS-Chalk ASP model in both the commercial and federal markets.

"As we expand into the U.S. it is critical that we deploy an IT infrastructure that integrates easily with the rest of our IT systems and allows us to grow rapidly with minimal capital investment," said Jim Speros, Chairman, Chalk Inc. "SAVVIS provides us with a highly scalable, managed IT solution that features a predictable monthly cost model requiring zero capital investment. It gives us the capacity, security and performance we need today and the option to easily expand our services as we grow. All the while, we can focus our resources on our clients' needs and interests."

As eLearning companies make the transition from departmental to company-wide deployments, there is substantial pressure to provide the most solid, secure and customized program possible. By selecting SAVVIS' utility platform, and deploying chalkboard(TM) LCMS in an ASP model, Chalk will be able to offer its customers a fully managed turnkey solution based on industry leading technology, with comprehensive and proactive monitoring and security built in.

"Chalk's business and applications are a perfect example of how a company's IT infrastructure can be hosted and delivered as scalable managed service with a predictable cost model," said Michael Tardif, Vice President & General Manager, Global Hosting Solutions, SAVVIS. "SAVVIS' managed IT services provide everything the chalkboard(TM) LCMS application needs to perform for the end users and does it in a way that significantly increases flexibility and lowers costs for Chalk."
