Chairman of Las Vegas Sands announces organization to develop new casino opportunities.


LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 1995--Sheldon G. Adelson, chairman of the board of Las Vegas Sands Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) is a casino resort company based in Las Vegas, Nevada and majority owned by one of the world's richest men, Sheldon Adelson.

), announced today the formation of an organization to develop new casino opportunities nationally and internationally.

They will develop at the Sand's location what will become the world's largest casino, resort, entertainment and convention project on approximately 60 acres located at the heart of the Las Vegas strip The Las Vegas Strip (also known as The Strip) is a 4 mi (6.7 km) section of Las Vegas Boulevard South, most of which has been designated an All-American Road.  including two 3,000 unit casino/hotels and a major consumer experience.

"To accomplish such an important development, I secured an outstanding team of industry executives," Adelson said. In addition to the entrepreneurial and development skills of Adelson, LVSI will employ William P. Weidner as its president. Weidner most recently was president of the Pratt Hotel Corp. and a director of the Hollywood Casino Corp.

Joining Weidner will be Bradley H. Stone, most recently with the Sands Hotel The Sands Hotel was a legendary Las Vegas, Nevada hotel/casino that operated from December 15, 1952 to June 30, 1996. It was the seventh resort that opened on the Las Vegas Strip. It was designed by architect Wayne McAllister.  & Casino in Atlantic city Atlantic City, city (1990 pop. 37,986), Atlantic co., SE N.J., an Atlantic resort and convention center; settled c.1790, inc. 1854. Situated on Absecon Island, a barrier island 10 mi (16.  where for the past eleven years he served as president. Stone is also currently the chairman of the Casino Association of New Jersey. Robert G. Goldstein will also join the LVSI management team. Goldstein has extensive management, marketing and operating experience in Atlantic City and the Caribbean.

The company's development activities will be headed by one of the most experienced destination development and construction professionals, H. Thomas Robinson, most recently president of the development division for Hemmeter Enterprises Inc.
