Dr. Greenspan is Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Dr. Greenspan also serves as Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the Fed's principal monetary policymaking body.

Witnesses included President and Mrs. Ford and Chairman Greenspan's wife, Andrea Mitchell Andrea Mitchell (born October 30, 1946) is a journalist, television commentator, and writer. She covers international issues for all NBC News broadcasts, including NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, Today, and MSNBC. .

President Bush nominated Dr. Greenspan on May 18, 2004, and he was confirmed by the Senate on June 17, 2004. He originally took office on August 11, 1987.
