: CC ) is pleased to announce that its farming subsidiary, Chai-Na-Ta Farms Ltd., has harvested a record 483,000 pounds of ginseng ginseng (jĭn`sĕng), common name for the Araliaceae, a family of tropical herbs, shrubs, and trees that are often prickly and sometimes grow as climbing forms.  root, an increase of 52 percent over the 1994 harvest.

Chai-Na-Ta Farms harvested 200 acres in 1995, averaging in excess of 2,400 pounds per acre. The harvest results, from both the British Columbia British Columbia, province (2001 pop. 3,907,738), 366,255 sq mi (948,600 sq km), including 6,976 sq mi (18,068 sq km) of water surface, W Canada. Geography
 and the Ontario farms sites, are better than forecasted. The combined average yield per acre is approximately 18 percent greater than the average yield from the 1994 harvest.
