: CC) The Chai-Na-Ta Group of Companies is pleased to announce that it has now closed the CDN (Content Delivery Network) A system of distributed content on a large intranet or the public Internet in which copies of content are replicated and cached throughout the network.  $20 million financing agreement with John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company Inc. that was previously announced in a news release dated May 13, 1996.

The financing is in the form of five year senior notes secured by Chai-Na-Ta Farms. The notes will be repaid by redemption payments in the years 1999, 2000, and 2001. The interest rate has been fixed at 10.6 percent per annum Per annum

 for the term. John Hancock and Sutro & Co., the brokering agent, will receive 1,100,000 and 110,000 warrants respectively at an exercise price of CDN $3.20 for a five year period. The proceeds from the financing will be used to retire existing bank operating lines and certain capital leases, and to provide general working capital.

Chai-Na-Ta's President and C.E.O., Gerry Gill states, "This financing by John Hancock will provide the company with the working capital to accomplish the next phase of our corporate growth.
