Chad releases Spaniards, Belgian

Authorities in Chad have released three Spanish flight crew members and a Belgian pilot who were detained over a suspected plot by a French charity to fly more than 100 African children to Europe, a defense lawyer said Friday.

"The three Spaniards and the Belgian pilot have been released," said Chadian lawyer Jean-Bernard Padare, speaking to The Associated Press by phone from N'Djamena, the Chadian capital.

The four had been charged with complicity in the alleged kidnapping plot of 103 children by the charity Zoe's Ark, but were ordered released by Chadian judge.

Six French aid workers in the group remain in custody in Chad.
