Cetek Technologies Forms Licensing Pact with Motorola For Flat Panel Display Production.

Business Editors

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 2002

Cetek Technologies Inc. (NQB NQB National Quotation Bureau, Inc (now Pink Sheets) :CTKT) announced today the company has secured a license with Motorola Inc. (NYSE NYSE

See: New York Stock Exchange
:MOT) to produce and use Carbon Nanotube See nanotube.  Triode triode: see electron tube.

A type of vacuum tube that is used in audio and radio amplifiers and oscillator circuits. It is like a diode with the addition of a wire mesh control grid between the cathode and plate (anode) that controls current flow.
(CNT (Carbon NanoTube) See nanotube. ) technology.

The basis for this business development is summarized as follows:

Cetek Technologies engages in the research and manufacturing of high-grade ceramic material. Cetek has pursued a significant R&D (research and development) effort over the past five years to produce a ceramic substrate that is flat, smooth and of large surface area, and with specific mechanical and electrical characteristics. Simultaneously, Motorola carried out a significant R&D effort to develop CNT (Carbon Nanotube Triode) technology and demonstrated that optimum CNT performance demanded ceramic substrate produced by Cetek. The combination of the two proprietary technologies and processes has produced a high quality and inexpensive flat panel display A thin display screen for computer and TV usage. The first flat panels appeared on laptop computers in the mid-1980s, and the LCD technology became the standard. Stand-alone LCD screens became available for desktop computers in the mid-1990s and exceeded sales of CRTs for the first time  product. All required research and development has been successfully completed. Prototype displays have been produced at Motorola's Phoenix facility.

Flat panel displays have become increasingly in demand for a wide variety of uses in the communication, entertainment, computing and instrumentation applications; cellular telephones, PC monitors and televisions being just three examples in the consumer arena.

There will exist major advantages of flat panel displays based on this Motorola/Cetek joint CNT technology:
-- Reliability is demonstrated by over 10,000 hrs. of life testing.

-- Viewing quality is superior to the present AMLCD (Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display), fully equivalent to CRT displays.

-- Power consumption is one-tenth that of AMLCD panels.

-- The manufacturing process is proven and scalable. The ease and simplicity in making a 60" display is the same as making a 2.5" display.

-- Manufacturing equipment used is "low tech" and has been used successfully for years in thick film technology. The process is ready to transfer with no modifications.

-- Manufacturing cost is 33 percent the cost to produce AMLCD panels.

The company is seeking funding to establish a facility in the United States. Through affiliation, partnering and strategic alliance, two additional production facilities in the Far East are to be established. More details are pending, and will be made available via future press releases.

Cetek president and chief executive officer, Fayiz Hilal, stated, "This agreement has been a long time in coming to fruition, and we are extremely pleased to have achieved this major milestone for Cetek. We expect to move very quickly, with regard to the production facilities, to take full advantage of the massive worldwide market. This joint agreement with Motorola should lead to an enormous rate of growth of CNT production in the coming years."

In a related announcement, Hilal announced that the company has retained Harry Zhang, head of CVP CVP central venous pressure.
