 Cervical Traction cervical traction Orthopedics A type of continuous or intermittent traction in which a head halter with weights is worn by the Pt to maintain proper alignment of a fracture of the cervical spine. See Traction.  unit, now approved for Medicare coverage as a home-use device, is designed to create an even distraction in the anterior and posterior cervical disks while supporting the cervical curve. The unit exerts force evenly and gently to provide more than 35 pounds of continuously adjustable traction without aggravating ag·gra·vate
