Certification processes modified.


THE BOARD approved a modification to NZNO's certification and accreditation accreditation,
n a process of formal recognition of a school or institution attesting to the required ability and performance in an area of education, training, or practice.
 processes. This is to take into account the three-yearly competence review that will come into effect under the new Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act.

NZNO's certification committee has traditionally worked on a five-yearly cycle. To overcome this conflict in timeframes, the committee proposes that a half-way self-assessment Self-assessment in an organisational setting, according to the EFQM definition, refers to a comprehensive, systematic and regular review of an organisation's activities and results referenced against the EFQM Excellence Model.  and confidential peer report, by means of a questionnaire sent out 30 months after certification, be established. The questionnaires would be based on the Nursing Council's standards for registration and the practice requirements for certification or accreditation.

Once the Council has approved this modification, NZNO's certification manuals will be modified, in line with the requirements of competence-based practicing certificates.
