E-learning is the fastest growing Web application since e-mail. More than 75 percent of colleges and 90 percent of Global 2000 companies have invested in online learning. More than 2 million courses are now online and accessible to learners of all occupations and interests. Associations can lead the e-learning revolution. Associations have high-quality, trusted, valuable content that can be reconceptualized as online learning. Online continuing education programs can be produced from a variety of knowledge resources, including:

* books, workbooks, home-study programs, and manuals;

* articles from magazines, newsletters, journals, or other publications; and

Edu-commerce generates revenues for associations just like exhibition and advertising sales.

Public and consumer education. Associations serve consumers and the public through education and information. Associations advance the health and safety of consumers and the general public through a variety of educational efforts. Online education offers a unique, new tool to provide consumer and public education.
