CertCities.com Predicts Cisco CCIE and Microsoft MCSE: Security as Hottest IT Certifications for 2005.

Today CertCities.com, the leading Web site for certified information technology professionals Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) is a Certified Public Accountant recognized for their technology expertise and unique ability to bridge the gap between business and technology. , unveiled its annual predictions for the hottest IT certifications for the coming year.

Cisco's high-level Cisco Certified See certification.  Internetwork (1) To go between one network and another.

(2) A large network made up of a number of smaller networks. Same as "internet" (lower case "i"), not the "Internet" (upper case "I"). See internet.
 Expert (CCIE See Cisco certification. ) won the top spot for 2005, with Microsoft's MCSE See Microsoft certification.

The list is based on the results of CertCities.com's recent reader survey, which asked a diverse group of IT professionals what certification titles they hold and plan to achieve within the next 12 months. The difference between these two statistics is turned into a "reader interest score" for each title. This is added to a "buzz score" determined by industry experts, resulting in the highly competitive annual ranking.

Linux and open source certifications claimed a record four spots on the 2005 list, with credentials from Red Hat, the Linux Professional Institute, Novell and MySQL making strong showings. Several security-related credentials made the cut, as did one project management title.

CertCities.com's picks for the Hottest IT Certifications for 2005 are, in order:
1) Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
2) Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer: Security (MCSE: Security)
3) Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
4) Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
5) Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)
6) Linux Professional Institute Level 2 (LPIC 2)
7) Novell Certified Linux Professional  (CLP)
8) MySQL Core Certification
9) CompTIA Security+
10) PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)
