The agreement calls for Cerplex to provide multi-vendor service parts sourcing to Digital's Multivendor Customer Services unit. "This new contract is an addition to other programs Cerplex currently provides to Digital, and represents a new source of revenue of approximately $16 million in 1997 for our service parts division," said William A. Klein, chairman and chief executive officer. "As Cerplex continues to restructure its business model, new contracts such as this one are key to our success in the future" Cerplex has previously maintained a multiple capability parts sales and "leasing" business. More recently, the company has offered three distinct parts programs -- Guaranteed Parts Availability, Advance Exchange and Electronic Brokering. Parts are sold both from Cerplex's inventory as well as from a network of qualified parts sources developed by the company. Customers are able to conduct simple purchases, or exchange defective defective adj. not being capable of fulfilling its function, ranging from a deed of land to a piece of equipment.
