"Query-by-content" feature a technology first in burgeoning

video surveillance market, enabling enhanced security

and significant savings for industry and government alike

Cernium, Inc. today introduced Perceptrak(TM), an intelligent video surveillance system that uses behavior-recognition technology to analyze movement and activity. Cernium made the announcement in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  at the International Security Conference & Exhibition/West (ISC Expo), sponsored by the Security Industry Association.

Perceptrak integrates with existing closed-circuit TV (CCTV CCTV

 person or two people converging.

Using Cernium's proprietary software, Perceptrak simultaneously monitors and analyzes an entire network of CCTV camera views, filtering out mundane, unwanted surveillance video, and allowing a single guard to monitor hundreds of cameras effectively.

By enhancing security and reducing staffing costs, Perceptrak, which was successfully tested last year at a major U.S. airport's parking facility, is an affordable and effective solution for many types of public and private facilities, including airports, hotels, shopping centers shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into , schools, hospitals, and office buildings.

The system's "query-by-content" feature - a first for the video surveillance industry - offers a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface that allows staff to instantly search thousands of hours of digital video archives for a specific incident, sorting by date, time and location, with the touch of a computer mouse. Further, the system digitally records images of "suspicious activity" at a higher resolution than their background, significantly improving computer storage efficiencies.

Frost & Sullivan, a San Jose-based industry-leading market research firm, projects a healthy double-digit growth rate for the CCTV surveillance market in today's "security-conscious" environment.

"The advances in digital technology are helping drive growth in this market," said Deepak Shetty, an industry analyst with Frost & Sullivan, who's developing an industry report on the World CCTV applications market scheduled for publication in April. "Importantly, new intelligent video systems, such as Perceptrak, are enhancing security because technology never falls asleep on the job."

Shetty added that Perceptrak is "unique in its capability of searching for specific events without having to look through stacks of videotape" - a great timesaver Timesaver is a well-known model railroad train shunting puzzle created by John Allen. It consists of a specific track layout, a set of initial conditions, a defined goal, and rules which must be obeyed while performing the shunting operations.  for security personnel and, ultimately, a significant money-saver for both public and private entities.

"The added level of security provided by Perceptrak allows property owners to provide a greater sense of personal safety to their customers, tenants and employees," said Sean Patty, president and chief executive officer at Cernium. "In addition, our system provides a rapid return on investment through reduced staff requirements, fewer criminal incidents, and lower legal liabilities."

The software engine for Perceptrak is based on proprietary technology initially developed for Cernium's other product, ExitSentry(TM), which detects and immediately alerts security guards to "wrong-way motion" - people attempting to bypass security by entering concourses through the exit lane - at airport checkpoints.
