Cerner Recognized as Industry Leader for CPOE Solutions; KLAS Report Affirms Cerner Provides Highest Value to Clients -- Leader in Physician Adoption.
In its fourth annual CPOE Digest report published on Friday, KLAS outlined its impartial synopsis of the CPOE market, focusing on usage of CPOE in live inpatient and major ambulatory facilities in North America. Cerner was among 12 competitors evaluated by providers on various aspects of their CPOE system, such as integration with pharmacy, benefits and value proposition.
"The annual KLAS CPOE Digest report provides the healthcare industry with a measurable scorecard of healthcare IT usage and value specific to computerized physician order entry," said Kent Gale, president of KLAS. "By providing this unique tool, our objective is to help healthcare IT companies continue to improve the healthcare experience for customers. Cerner's continued strong results on our CPOE Digest demonstrate aggressive use of the Cerner Millennium solution for patient care."
KLAS focuses on four primary areas for evaluating healthcare IT companies' CPOE value proposition: physician buy-in, depth of use, solution types, and patient safety, alerts and reminders. Cerner was the clear leader in CPOE value proposition, outscoring its nearest competitor by 65 percent in overall inpatient and ambulatory score.
In addition, Cerner leads the industry with the most live inpatient CPOE hospitals and the highest net inpatient additions in the industry. The Cerner Millennium architecture also is the most used CPOE solution by physicians, with more than 23,000 physicians actively using it in inpatient and ambulatory settings.
"Now more than ever, computerized physician order entry is playing a pivotal role in ensuring patient safety," said Trace Devanny, president of Cerner. "At Cerner, we pride ourselves on providing the unified solutions clinicians need to ensure their patients receive the best level of care possible -- whenever they need it, wherever they need it."
This is the second year that Cerner has received the highest value proposition score in the annual KLAS CPOE Digest report.
