Cerestar welcomes EU approval of acquisition by Cargill. (Company Evolution).


The European Commission European Commission, branch of the governing body of the European Union (EU) invested with executive and some legislative powers. Located in Brussels, Belgium, it was founded in 1967 when the three treaty organizations comprising what was then the European Community  has given clearance to Cargill's acquisition of Montedison's 56% shareholding in Cerestar.

The EC decision gives final clearance with regards to operations and sales in Continental Europe Continental Europe, also referred to as mainland Europe or simply the Continent, is the continent of Europe, explicitly excluding European islands and, at times, peninsulas. .

It also allows for an investigation by authorities in the United Kingdom into the possible impact the acquisition might have on supply of glucose syrups syrups,
n a medicinal preparation in which herbal infusions or decoctions are mixed with glycerin, honey, or sugar.
 and blends in the UK.

. If this happens Cargill will purchase Montedison's shares and file a public tender offer for the remaining 44% of Cerestar shares at 33 euros per share.
