Cereplast, Inc. Announces Key Executive Appointment.

HAWTHORNE, Calif. -- As part of a strategic growth plan in response to the growing demand for bio-based products, Cereplast Inc. (OTCBB:CERP), producer of resins made from renewable and biodegradable sources, announced today that Stephan Garden has joined the company as VP of Finance.

Garden joins Cereplast from Allied Capital (NYSE: ALD), where as a member of the investment team he focused on debt and equity investments to middle market companies. Prior to joining Allied Capital, Garden was a Vice President in the Financial Entrepreneur's Group of Citigroup's Global Investment Bank (NYSE: C). In both of his previous positions, Garden provided guidance to various senior management teams across a broad spectrum of industries on operating, budgeting, capital markets, M&A and divestiture decisions. Garden holds a MBA from Columbia Business School, and a BS from Boston University.

In his new role, Garden will focus both on financial management and reporting as well as strategy and execution of the Company's business model. Garden will report directly to Frederic Scheer, Founder, President and CEO of Cereplast.
