The celebration of life will be at 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church General

Julie Foerstler was a substitute teacher at Cottage Grove High School.

She also was a 4-H leader and a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association for 30 years, including 15 years as a certified judge.

The children both attended London School, where Julie Foerstler was PTA PTA or parent-teacher association: see parent education.  president.

On Monday, London School teachers and staff tried to help students deal with their grief, Principal Laurie Klein said. They printed out photos of the family and encouraged students to write or draw next to the pictures to take home or to send to Kevin Foerstler, she said.

The school day began with class meetings, where teachers talked about respecting each other's feelings and recognizing that different people deal with grief in different ways, she said. Counselors were available for students who felt overwhelmed by grief, she said.

"Otherwise, we tried to go back to a regular school day," Klein said. "That's important for people who are grieving, to have structure and predictability."

Matthew, a sixth-grader known as Matt, enjoyed Taekwondo, baseball, basketball and soccer. He liked to read about science fiction and learn about dinosaurs. He was dedicated to raising his rabbits and cavies.

Amanda, a fourth-grader known as Mandy, enjoyed dance, basketball, baseball and soccer. She was learning to play the organ. She also liked to raise horses and rabbits.
