Cerdak Pty Ltd to Present at Windhover Information and Medtech Insight's ``Investment In Innovation'' Conference.

BOSTON -- Cerdak (Pty) Ltd will be presenting on October 21, 2004 at Windhover wind·hov·er

Information and Medtech Insight's Prestigious "Investment In Innovation" Event, taking place October 21-22, 2004 at the Westin Copley Place Copley Place is an enclosed shopping mall located in the Back Bay section of Boston, Massachusetts. It is part of a complex that includes office buildings, two hotels, and a parking garage.  Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dirk Kotze, a materials scientist, discovered a method to produce small permeable micro-porous ceramic spheres that absorb moisture with a very strong capillary action. Ernst Eiselen, a medical practitioner, found that the micro-porous spheres have a remarkable ability to heal even the most refractory wounds. Kotze and Eiselen filed a provisional patent on the discovery and joined forces to develop a wound care product that uses the healing power of the micro-porous ceramics. The resultant product consists of the micro-porous ceramic granules Granules
Small packets of reactive chemicals stored within cells.

In 2000, Cerdak (Pty) Ltd, was formed to exploit the patented technology. In May 2000, a PCT (Private Communications Technology) A protocol from Microsoft that provides secure transactions over the Web. See security protocol.  patent application P15727PC00 entitled "Ceramic Wound Treatment Device" was filed, and National Phase applications have since been filed and acceptance is in different stages. Three more provisional patents were lodged as further inventions of the main patent.

The management of the wound moisture and the preparation of the wound bed are critical for optimal wound healing wound healing Physiology The repair of a wound Steps Inflammation, repair and closure, remodeling, final healing; repair of incisions may be either simple–'clean' wounds with little loss of tissue heal by 'primary intention', or 'dirty' wounds heal by . The micro-porous ceramic manages the wound exudate exudate /ex·u·date/ (eks´u-dat) a fluid with a high content of protein and cellular debris which has escaped from blood vessels and has been deposited in tissues or on tissue surfaces, usually as a result of inflammation.  in a specific and unique way that differs from the published mechanisms of other advanced wound care products. Some of the differences between Cerdak(TM) and the industry standard wound dressings are:

--With Cerdak, the exudate is permanently locked into the ceramic by a strong capillary force, ensuring a uni-directional flow of exudate. During use, Cerdak(TM) does not undergo changes like the alginates and the gel products and its action therefore does not have a chemical dependence. It also does not expand in volume and become impermeable impermeable /im·per·me·a·ble/ (-per´me-ah-b'l) not permitting passage, as of fluid.

--The revolutionary mechanical disinfecting ability of Cerdak(TM) has been proven by clinical studies. This contrasts with products that depend on chemical disinfection, like for instance devices impregnated im·preg·nate

The aim of attending the Medtech Insight's conference is to seek alliance with large role players in the wound care market or alternatively to find an equity investment to fund capital expansions and market development.
