Cerberian Appoints New Chief Technology Officer; Mikko Valimaki to Head Technology Direction for Cerberian's Web Filter Service.

Cerberian, a leading provider of Internet filtering solutions for businesses, homes and schools, today announced that it has appointed Mikko Valimaki as the company's chief technology officer (CTO). Valimaki will be responsible for overseeing the ongoing development of Cerberian's Web Filter, which integrates into leading firewall and network appliances, caching devices and service solutions, such as those provided by Belkin, Computer Associates, Global Technology Associates, LogiSense, SnapGear and Zone Labs.

Valimaki comes to Cerberian from GroupLink, a provider of contact management, referral management, and sales force automation for financial institutions, where he served as CTO and vice president of research and development. While at GroupLink, he helped expand the company's product line into new and profitable areas, including electronic customer referral systems, which resulted in 30 percent month-over-month growth. Prior to GroupLink, Valimaki served for nearly 10 years in a variety of engineering roles at Novell, Inc., a leading provider of information solutions. From 2000 to 2002, he held the position of vice president of engineering for Novell, where he directed all aspects of the development of Novell eDirectory, DirXML and other value-added security and identity management solutions. He increased the scalability, reliability and performance of Novell eDirectory by orders of magnitude, resulting in Novell becoming the number one directory and identity management solutions vendor.

Valimaki earned bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
