Ceramic coating adds moisture carrier to Film. (Keeping up with Extrusion).

PET film vacuum coated with a thin layer of aluminum oxide aluminum oxide: see alumina.  ceramic is being made in Japan to add high moisture and oxygen barrier to stand-up stand·up or stand-up

pouches. Produced by Toppan Printing Co. Ltd. (which has U.S. offices in N.Y.C.), these GL films are laminated to an LLDPE LLDPE Linear Low Density Polyethylene  sealant layer in a structure that competes with PVDC-coated PET film laminated to LLDPE, or coextrusion-coated PET/PE/aluminum foil/FE structures.

Toppan says oxygen barrier of GL film is two to three times higher than that of the two competing films after 100 cycles of Gelbo flex testing. Moisture barrier of the Gelbo-flexed GL film is twice as high as that of PVDC/PET/LLDPE but is only one-third as high as coated aluminum foil Noun 1. aluminum foil - foil made of aluminum
aluminium foil, tin foil

foil - a piece of thin and flexible sheet metal; "the photographic film was wrapped in foil"
. (For unflexed film, Toppan's GL has oxygen and moisture barrier between those of the other two films.)

GL films were introduced two years ago in Japan and are now distributed to U.S. converters by Pliant Corp. in Uniontown, Ohio. The ceramic coating ceramic coating,
