Ceradyne Inc. ("Company") (Nasdaq:CRDN CRDN Certified Restoration Drycleaning Network ) today reported receiving a $1.4 million order for its proprietary ceramic orthodontic orthodontic (ôr´thdän´tik),
adj
 brackets, a record for a single quarter, from Unitek, a division of 3M. Unitek is Ceradyne's exclusive marketing partner for ceramic orthodontic brackets, which it sells under the Clarity(TM) brand name.

Unitek's quarterly order for the Company's ceramic orthodontic brackets is 17% greater than its second quarter order in 1999. Shipments against this order are scheduled for the third quarter of 2000.
