Cequel III Finalizes Acquisition of Houston-Area Cable Systems.

, announced today that it has closed the purchase of several Houston-area cable systems. The agreement to acquire these systems from Shaw Communications Shaw Communications Inc. (TSX: SJR.NV.B NYSE: SJR) is a Canadian telecomunications company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta.

The company was founded by J.R. Shaw in 1966 as Capital Cable Television Co Ltd..
, Inc., was announced in February, in a deal valued at approximately $85 million.

Cequel III will take over management and operation of the systems on July 1. The acquired systems serve approximately 27,000 customers in the Houston-area communities of Kingwood, Lake Conroe Lake Conroe is a 21,000 acre (85 km²) lake in Conroe, Texas, United States. The lake lies on the West Fork of the San Jacinto River just west of Interstate 45 off of State Highway 105 in Montgomery and Walker counties. The lake runs through classic East Texas Piney Woods forests. , and Lake Livingston Lake Livingston is a man-made reservoir located in the East Texas Piney Woods. Lake Livingston was built, is owned and is operated by the Trinity River Authority of Texas (TRA) under contract with the City of Houston for water supply purposes. , Texas.

The population was 3,863 at the 2000 census. Louisiana is located in northeast Missouri, on the Mississippi River south of Hannibal.

An ammonia plant here was converted to study and produce synthetic fuels.
