Century 21 Real Estate Corporation Extends Alliance With Major League Baseball and Announces Cal Ripken Jr. as a Company Ambassador.

Century 21 Real Estate Corporation announced today that it will expand its relationship with America's favorite pastime by extending its alliance with Major League Baseball(R) (MLB) for at least an additional three years and announcing that Cal Ripken Jr. will continue to serve in part as a CENTURY 21(R) spokesperson. As part of the alliance, the CENTURY 21 System continues as the "Official Real Estate Organization" of Major League Baseball, and will continue as the title sponsor of Major League Baseball's All-Star Home Run Derby, a fan favorite at the MLB All-Star Week festivities that is aired live on ESPN.

The CENTURY 21 System joined the Major League Baseball roster as a two-year sponsor in the winter of 1999. That agreement was set to expire in 2001, but the success of both the first year and the 1999 CENTURY 21 All-Star Home Run Derby led to an extension of the sponsorship to a full four-year alliance.

In addition, Ripken, who holds the MLB record for most consecutive games played, has agreed to act, on behalf of Major League Baseball, as a CENTURY 21 spokesperson. Ripken is considered by many to be one of the game's all-time greatest players, and a sure-fire first ballot Hall of Famer. As part of his relationship with the CENTURY 21 System, Ripken appears in the "Perfect Town" television commercial and is featured in company promotional materials. In addition, he will make appearances at CENTURY 21 broker and sales associate events.

In 1999, the CENTURY 21 System added a consumer sweepstakes overlay to the Home Run Derby event that offered consumers a chance to win $250,000 toward the purchase of a home. The two sweepstakes finalists were paired with the Home Run Derby finalists. In the end, Ken Griffey Jr. took home his second derby championship and helped win $250,000 toward a home for Rodger Smith, formerly of Chatsworth, CA. It is estimated that the 1999 CENTURY 21 Home Run Derby effort delivered well over 55 million media impressions. In addition, it was the third most watched event in the history of cable television.

Consumers will be happy to know that the CENTURY 21 System is offering the popular sweepstakes again in 2000.(a) Consumers are able to enter by visiting a participating CENTURY 21 office from April 15 - June 9 or by visiting the CENTURY 21 Web site, www.century21.com. Two lucky finalists will attend the 2000 All-Star Week in Atlanta and one will take home $250,000 toward a new home on July 10, the date of the 2000 CENTURY 21 Home Run Derby.
