Centurion Technologies Inc., Announces that Litton/PRC Has Been Awarded a U.S. General Services Administration Multiple-award Contract for Smart Card Technology.

Centurion Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Upgrade International Corporation (OTCBB:UPGD), developers of smart card based software applications for health, education and government market segments, announces that Litton/PRC, Inc. with Centurion Technologies acting as a partner/subcontractor, is one of the recipients of the General Services Administration Smart Access Common ID Card program.

The General Services Administration has selected five contractors for the development of the Smart Access Common ID Card program. Litton/PRC, Inc. along with Centurion Technologies, an exclusive healthcare applications developer, is one of the recipients of that contract. They will work with the GSA to introduce smart card technology to the Federal government market. The terms of the contract are five years with an estimated total value of 1.5 billion US dollars. In addition, there is a possible five-year extension to this contract.

The Litton/PRC-Centurion team, will initially focus on the healthcare government market, utilizing smart card technology for portable medical record access and security control. The Litton/PRC-Centurion team has developed a smart card based technology that makes it possible to address the growing concerns of medication errors.

According to John French, President of Centurion, "A heightened awareness within the public sector has put pressure on the healthcare delivery system to deal with the growing number of unnecessary medication errors (e.g., wrong drug, wrong dose, wrong duration, wrong frequency, wrong route, wrong dosage form, wrong patient identification/data/history and nomenclature errors)." The majority of these errors are a result of the following conditions:

1. Dispensing errors that create drug interactions by conflicting

with existing medications or medical condition. As our population

ages, more medications tend to be used and multiple drug therapies

are deployed to treat growing disease states (e.g., high

cholesterol, heart disease and cancer). These errors are most

often preventable, but are a result of incomplete or inaccurate

patient information. Many healthcare practitioners don't have

ready access to patient medical records at the time the medication

orders are placed.

2. Dosage & drug transcription errors. Most often due to a reliance

on an outdated ordering system that is dependent upon a

handwritten, paper intensive prescription process.

3. Nomenclature errors. Frequently, medications are prescribed orally

and drugs that look or sound alike create problems, as a result of

verbal communication.

This new contract vehicle will be a significant opportunity for Centurion Technologies, since its current product EPRIM Rx(TM) specifically addresses these typical medication errors.

EPRIM Rx(TM) also allows for off-line access to patient's private portable records stored on their personal smart cards. This methodology should provide potential within both the ambulatory and emergency based care systems where immediate access to emergent patient data can save lives and in the event where on-line access is not possible or cost prohibitive due to paper based record systems. By using Centurion's proprietary MSMQ techniques, off-line data that has been accessed or modified on the patient's smart card can be synchronized, when networking can be reestablished, with the patient's permanent medical database held on the server at their local healthcare provider.
