The Summit was produced by Aviation Week, Business Week, McGraw-Hill Construction, Platts and Standard & Poor's and the presenting partner was Teradata, a division of NCR (NCR Corporation, Dayton, OH, www.ncr.com) A technology company specializing in financial terminal transactions, retail systems and data warehousing. Until the late 1990s, NCR was heavily invested in the hardware side of the industry, known worldwide as a major manufacturer of computers . Several companies exhibited security devices and systems designed to protect the country's infrastructure from terrorist attacks. The devices ranged from communications security for phone systems and computer networks to building key card and personnel ID systems. There was also a great emphasis on devices for monitoring building and airport security, including next generation metal detectors and explosives screening devices.

Even though a bioterrorism attack is considered by both the federal government and private industry to be one of the most serious threats, there were no biological agent detection devices exhibited.
