Centrex Announces Micronics Development Agreement; Company Expanding Efforts to Introduce Bio-Threat Detection System.

Business Editors

TULSA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 2003

Centrex, Inc. (OTCBB OTCBB

See OTC Bulletin Board (OTCBB).
:CNEX) today announced that it has signed a development agreement with Redmond, Washington-based Micronics, Inc. to design and develop disposable, multipurpose mul·ti·pur·pose
adj.
Designed or used for several purposes: a multipurpose room; multipurpose software.

microfluidics lab cards that incorporate Centrex's single molecule nucleic acid nucleic acid, any of a group of organic substances found in the chromosomes of living cells and viruses that play a central role in the storage and replication of hereditary information and in the expression of this information through protein synthesis.  detection ("SMD (1) (Storage Module Device) A high-performance hard disk interface used with minis and mainframes that transfers data in the 1-4 MBytes/sec range (SMD-E provides highest rate). See hard disk. ") technology.

Centrex's SMD technology has been exclusively licensed from Los Alamos National Laboratories and represents advantages over existing DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.
DNA
 or deoxyribonucleic acid

One of two types of nucleic acid (the other is RNA); a complex organic compound found in all living cells and many viruses. It is the chemical substance of genes.
and RNA RNA: see nucleic acid.
RNA
 in full ribonucleic acid

One of the two main types of nucleic acid (the other being DNA), which functions in cellular protein synthesis in all living cells and replaces DNA as the carrier of genetic
detection methods as well as culture-based test methods. The technology eliminates the need for amplification of the target DNA, which reduces the possibility of false positive and negative test results -- common concerns identified with others test procedures. Centrex's detection system is designed to be adaptable to the detection of a variety of bacterial or viral organisms by recognizing the unique DNA or RNA fingerprint of the organism.

Centrex plans to focus on the commercialization of a first product that provides a simultaneous multi-channel detection system that is compact, fully automated and capable of monitoring the presence of biological agents in air, food and water. Potential additional applications for the Centrex technology include bioterrorism and Homeland Security Noun 1. , food and water processing, blood supply screening, and general DNA/RNA testing.

Under the agreement, Centrex has retained Micronics, Inc, to provide custom lab card design, development and prototypes systems. The proposed lab card for the Centrex system is expected to include fully automated on-card sample preparation, mixing, separation, and analysis. Reagent and waste storage also are designed to be on card for ease of use and disposal.

Micronics is believed to offer the most sophisticated and rapid lab card prototyping facility in the world today, including an extensive materials and designs library. Micronics is capable of producing over 40,000 prototype lab cards per year in its Class 10000 facility. Micronics also is considered the world leader in the use of thin film laminates and injection molding solutions in lab card development.

According to Centrex CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Dr. Thomas R. Coughlin, Jr., "The agreement with Micronics provides Centrex with access to one of the preeminent microfluidics industry leaders as an invaluable development resource. This is an important step toward commercialization of the Centrex single molecule nucleic acid detection technology."
